February 12th, 2011 by Sophia Wardlaw

As seen on amazing A-listers, the floppy brimmed hat is forever in style.

“We like how this hat wavers between casual and cool, (Audrey) Hepburn or (Kate) Hudson.” – Black Book Magazine

Floppy hats have held sway recently over spring summer 2011 runways, taking its cue from carefree 1970′s style. As seen in Just Cavalli, Tracy Reese, Cynthia Steffe, Albino and Chris Benz’s shows a floppy brimmed hat promises to add a romantic flair to maxis, flares or shorts.

Barker Black’s Glory

February 7th, 2011 by Sophia Wardlaw

This is the tale of an ancient calvary, a daring man and shoes imbued with antediluvian character …

… A legend that begun back in 1759, when Colonel John Hale of the 47th Regiment of the Foot news of the victory in the Battle of Quebec to General James Wolfe just prior to the General’s death. Hale was rewarded with land in Canada and permission to raise a regiment of light dragoons, at first known as the 18th Regiment of (Light) Dragoons, then renumbered as the 17th in 1761 and named as a Lancer regiment in 1822.

Platform Wedges Spring Summer 2011 Shoe Trend

February 5th, 2011 by Sophia Wardlaw

Build your look upon the trendy 70′s style with the Spice Girls-inspired sky-high platform wedges! It is a fashion forward fetish-worthy footwear (almost) everyone can sport. It is especially dedicated to the ones who lack a flattering height but not recommended to the ones with chunky, muscly calves.

Designers make it clear: platform shoes are a simple yet striking footwear choice for spring 2011. A wedge heel gives you stable height, and looks elegant when paired with fitted skirts. It is also a great complement to spring’s 70s inspired maxi dresses and flare pants that give you feminine appeal and stamp quirky sophistication (see Lavin, D&G, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Rick Owens, Derek Lam and Chanel). Whether you’re going to the club or dinner with friends, the platform heels complete a variety of looks.

Platform shoes were very cool during 90′s Spice Girls-mania. Perfectly designed for the the Super-Pop era of the mid to late 90s, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell sparkled brilliantly in their Saturday Night Fever type platform shoes.

A very summery wedge option are lofty raffia-covered platform espadrilles. These shoe pieces dominated the spring 2011 D&G fashion show as they are especially inspired by the ’70s bohemian chic.

Edgy or romantic? Whatever your choice is, remember: platform wedges will let you stay on your feet all day in quite the fashionable manner!

The jackets are single breasted and sport high lapels, two buttons and are cut close to the body (there’s a double breasted jacket in this collection but we’re not big fans of its boxiness). The p
