Kanye builds his fashion crew
In further evidence that yes, the man who revived shutter shades truly is launching a luxury fashion line, we receive word that Kanye West has retained a magazine fashion editor as a consultant on his new label.
Harper’s Bazaar Australia Fashion Editor Christine Centenera, also a freelance stylist, has been travelling to Paris twice a month to advise the rapper on his fashion endeavours.
In a blog post, the Aussie mag says that West’s label will launch in the upcoming round of S/S ’12 shows. Not that Centenera needs to shut her mouth, or anything:
- ‘It’s all very hush-hush at this stage, and Centenera refuses to discuss it when she is actually in the office, stating that West is a very private person and that it’s not her place to comment. However, this writer sits next to said fashion editor in the BAZAAR office, so one plus one equals two, right? We’ll keep you posted.’
This follows Louise Wilson’s confirmation over the weekend that she connected West with knitwear designer Louise Goldin.
No word on how and where West and Centenera met… could it have been at the Celine show?
