In Brooklyn, Join Environmental Artists and Designers for Interactive Earth Day Event
If you’re near Brooklyn this Earth Day, stop by the Textile Arts Center in Park Slope. Environmental fiber artist Abigail Doan is hosting “Fashioning Self and the Environment,” an open house featuring local artists, designers, and activities related to slow fashion strategies and environmental outreach. You’ll have the opportunity to mix and mingle with artist Susan Benarcik, known for creating installation pieces out of recycled and nature-based materials; designer Meiling Chen, who will showcase her latest handmade creations; and Daria Dorosh of Fashion Lab in Process, who will demonstrate “why pattern is a rich language between fashion, science, and technology.”
Fashion designers Xing-Zhen Chung-Hilyard and Melissa Kirgan of Eko-Lab, Titania Inglis, Anjelika Krishna of a.d.o clothing, Shannon South of reMade USA, Tara St. James of Study NY and Andria Crescioni with Awamaki Lab will also be on hand to show their latest collections and discuss their work.
Participating artists also include Tali Weinberg, Edina Tokodi of Mosstika, Rachel Miller, Zoe Sheehan Saldana, Eve Mosher and Renata Mann.
