Ferragamo profits up in first quarter

Salvatore Ferragamo reported a rise in profits in the first quarter of 10.2 percent to 15.5 million euros, thanks to growth in all geographic regions and increased sales of shoes, bags, leather accessories and perfume.

Sales increased 23.4 percent to 259.6 million euros, driven by a strong performance in the Asia-Pacific region where sales jumped 27.3 percent to 96.4 million euros. The Italian fashion house contributed the increase to the strength of its retail chain which realized a rise in sales of 36 percent in China. In Japan, sales increased by 9.9 percent.

Despite adverse economical conditions in Europe, Ferragamo saw sales in the region surge 27,8 percent, thanks to brand awareness among global tourists shopping in Europe. Read full post…

Listen, Ive been avoiding using the word grandma to describe perfumes in this column, because its so overused when it comes to scents. I didnt want every other column to be grandma this and grandma that. So Ive diversified my vocabulary, and I like to think its been to some success.

But this time around, I really have no choice. When I smelled Pradas Infusion DIris, I was immediately hit with images (Im so sorry, Miuccia, for what Im about to do here) of mothballs and greyness, musty corners and heirlooms that havent left mantlepieces for nigh 30 years.

Joe Budden is very serious about his sneaker game, especially when his custom Laker edition Nike Air Foamposite One.

Matching precisely with a Lakers fitted cap, Joe Budden sits nonchalant sporting one of two pairs of his new custom kicks. Its obvious that he couldnt get one without the other, i.e. home and away colorways. Would it be possible that these are altered versions of the previously released Electrolime and Eggplant colorways?

To pay homage to one of the greatest professional golfers of all-time, Nike has made a special PE to commemorate Tiger Woods wins in The Masters Tournament. Nike chose to go with the iconic silhouette of the Nike Air Force One. The upper is a mixture of white leather and green accents that sports a unique pattern. Laser engraving can be found on the left shoe the reads Woods, and the right shoe reads Augusta 2012. No word if these Nike AF1 x Tiger Woods Masters PE will ever hit retail stores, but if they did would you grab a pair?

H&M pays cotton toll, Nike wins Reebok

The FashionUnited Top 100 Index closed down Thursday at 1442.13 after giving up 3.96 points. H&M took the lead within traded apparel companies, highlighting how their figures are paying the cotton rising prices’ toll.

The Swedish retailer reported net income of about SEK 2.74 billion, compared to SEK 2.62 billion in the same period the prior year. The Street was looking for net income of SEK 2.99 billion. Sales rose 14% to SEK 27.8 billion, with comps up 3%. Gross margins also compressed by about 200 basis points from 57.8 % last year to 55.8%. Gross margins are at the lowest point since 2004.

Actually, I believe my reaction was more like “OMG!! Where’s my credit card???”

The Etsy seller has an array of rings to choose from as well as pendants and earrings, with new designs constantly being added (trust me, I’ve made several visits). Whatever you favorite food/meal is, chances are FingerFoodDelight has transformed it into a little plastic fashion statement. I’m particularly fond of their Kawaii floating rings.

But perhaps my affinity for tacky jewelry is a bit extreme. I don’t know. What do you think?
