A new year brings with it a fresh new slate, and for the fortune-forward folks, a whole new cycle of chance and fate. As it goes with the meeting of astrology and mass retail, the chosen creature of the year is plastered on every surface imaginable, fashion and beauty non-exempted. We saw it in the horse year (Royal Selangor pewter decorations, anyone?) as well as the prior rabbit year (doubly perfect when Easter rolled around). Herein lies the problem with 2012 the dragon is far from the most elegant creature and what weve seen so far, has the sleazy reek of ghetto-gang vibes more akin to Miami Ink and Jersey Shore instead.

Lindsay Lohan was given a glowing probation report during her court hearing yesterday.

The Mean Girls actress who has been working at the Los Angeles County Morgue as part of her sentence for breaking her probation in relation to a 2007 DUI case was praised by Judge Stephanie Sautner for the way she has behaved and got on with her court-ordered work.

When discussing Lindsays community service hours, Sautner praised the 25-year-old star for having done it not only on time, but early. You did the 12 days and you completed it early.

She then told Lindsay, who returned to Los Angeles after holidaying in Hawaii: Youre doing well.
