If I were to create an Ivy-inspired urban myth, I would spin a tale of how the first Yale man to wear a madras shirt was old Elihu himself and how madras money built Yale.

Liberty gets beauty hall make-over

Liberty’s beauty hall is doubling in size this month, with over 10 new brands joining the stable.

On June 13 the beauty hall is set to expand, but thanks to its sensitive make-over it won’t be losing any of its ‘treasure trove’ charm, just adding to its exciting offerings. The floor is being renovated to reflect the stores aesthetic roots – the iconic Liberty Print providing inspiration for the flashes of colour running through the new space.

Spring Finale: Exploring Chic Ivy

They say you dont get a proper spring in New York, and that certainly seemed the case this year. A stubborn winter was followed by an interlude of gray skies, wind and rain with just a handful of sunny mild days, and now were projecting 91 for Memorial Day.

So while its madras and seersucker season from here out, I thought Id draw spring to a close with out outfit that plays with the notion of chic Ivy.

What might chic Ivy look like? Maybe something like Dickie Greenleaf in 1958, a few years out of Princeton, bumming around Italy and getting influenced by the locals.
