It’s awards season and so for the start of 2011, we’re upgrading street style as we walk you down the red carpet and lay down the 411 on formal wear.
We believe that although you may or may not be a celebrity, 2011 is the year where, as we hearken back and find comfort in ye olde rituals of civility, family and tradition post the traumatic GFC and global uncertainty, we’ll be all about celebrating customs and rituals like formal dinners, balls and rich, full gatherings of family and friends.
For you men, some of these occasions may mean decking yourselves in formal wear – in this case black or white tie; a nod to the grand tradition of old school charm and glam.
So what’s the difference between white and black tie, you ask.

Kate Middleton’s white Reiss dress is hitting stores again on Tuesday.
When Kate Middleton was snapped by Mario Testino for the official pics to mark her engagement to Prince William, she caused a fashion frenzy. ‘Where did she get her white frilled dress from?’, came the cry. The answer was Reiss, and Kate had shopped her wardrobe – the dress was from last autumn’s collection.
Thanks to popular demand, however, Reiss has just announced that it’s going to re-stock it. On Tuesday morning the ‘Nanette’ dress is going to be available online and in selected stores across the country.
